14 Tips For Group Blogging

Much discussion on corporate and organizational blogging is focused on branding, PR or external communications in general. But obviously you can think of many different uses, for example knowledge sharing or collaboration. After a discussion with Common Purpose, Jonathan Briggs of re:engage provides a guide to blogging for groups. Here are a few of his 14 points:

  • Select a champion within the organisation who will start a group blog to give this group an opportunity to get started.
  • Explore other types of personal media. Give out some digital cameras on a programme day asking for 8 images to capture the essence of the day.
  • Use the initial experiment as a catalyst for further activity; allowing speakers and perhaps external people to participate.
  • Consider moving some of the administrative messages onto the blog to encourage participants to read it regularly.
